"There is only one success- to be able to spend your life in your own way." -Christopher Morley

Zach McDuffie is an American born photographer and artist. He received a BFA degree from the University of Georgia, where he studied painting and photography. In 1997, at the age of 23, Z moved to Costa Rica and founded his own school for travelers, called "School of the World" , which offers courses in Photography, Surfing, Spanish, and Yoga. His visionary school helped pioneer a new and very popular genre of travel referred to now as "learning vacations".

After several years spent establishing his school and designing a boutique hotel for its guests, Z returned to the pursuit of his own art and photography. He went on to study advanced portrait, beauty, and fashion photography in Los Angeles and Paris. His travels have taken him to over 20 countries, and he is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Z's creative lifestyle takes him from remote beaches to big cities around the world. He is admittedly more comfortable in the sea than the city however, and if you ask him about accomplishments you are more likely to hear a story about freediving with wild dolphins in Bimini or sunset surfing in Indonesia rather than exhibitions or awards. Life's magic moments are clearly what matter most to him.

"Photography is a visual language, and it is up to the individual photographer to translate what he or she wants to say with the camera.... for me life is full of beauty and adventure, so that is the story I want to tell." -Z McDuffie
